Stereotyping in media

                                                            The Male Gaze
The cinerma apparatus of Holleywood cinerma puts the audience in a masculine subject posistion with the woman on the screen as an object of desire.
                                                             The Bechdal Test
For a film to pass this test it must pass 3 things:
  1. Have 2 named woman starring in the film
  2. The woman have to have a conversation with each other
  3. The conversation has to be about something other than men.
All genders of society are stereotyped and young people are given the stereotype as drug dealing, trouble making and young parents who are immature with the responsibilities.
Dyer argues that how we are seen determines how we are treated and how we treat other people is based on how we see them. This comes from our understanding of representation.
Barthes theory looks quite closely at the idea of mythology, usually in regards to people and places. He suggested that the media often gives us myth representations or a fairytale like portrail of a particular place or person.

Analysis of movie shots

This image from the opening scene of Fast And Furious 6 shows an extreme close up of a spearit is from a level view this would suggest that this object is going to play a key part in what is just about to happen. In the scene the movement to this shot is just panning left of the spear.

This image here shows a longshot of the convoys travelling down the road this is an example of a low shot as they are looking down on the action making it look smaller, I think they have done this because they then quickly zoom in on the next part showing the real size of this machine.

This image here shows an example of a long shot with the camera angle very high this would show that this ibject that they are focusing on is very important in the upcoming scene or events.

This image here is an example of an extreme long shot the camera angle is situated low as this would suggest that down on the road they are weak and defensless to what may be about to happen.

Magazine Cover Rihanna

This maggazine cover of Glamour shows Rihanna as the main attraction on the front this is because she is seen as a big icon for women to maybe model themselves on, also men are always interested into what Rihanna is on as she is a very popular female celebrity. Rihanna is showing of her booty which will attract men to buying this magazine.
Rihanna has bright red hair this works well with this poster as red is associated with passion and love. She is wearing a white top this could suggest innocnece because we all know that this image on the front is to attract men. There is very little information even about Rihanna on the front of the magazine it only says "I need to open up" this is all its says about her but yet she is still the main focus of attention on this front cover.

Fast And Furious 6 Poster

Fast and Furious 6 is a 2013 action film written by Chris Morgan and directed by Justin Lin. Fast and Furious 6 follows a professional criminal gang led by Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel) after retiring following their successful heist in Fast and Furious 5 but still remain wanted fugitives. Agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) offers to clear the groups criminal records and allow them to return home in exchange for helping him take down a skilled mercenary organization led by Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) and his second in command, Dominic's presumed dead lover Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriquez)
Fast And Furious 6 was set in many different places across the world including the Canary Islands, Glasgow and Los Angeles. The scenes are usually shot in busy down town streets with lots of people coming to inspect. The theme in this film is definitely action, it is very fast paced and full of stunts.
This poster itself to me if you are looking at it would show you that there are some characters more important than others for example you can see Dominic Torretto, Luke Hobbs and Brian O'Connor all standing at the front commanding the audiences attention, they are all standing in pretty strong poses too which would suggest these are the 3 tough men in the film. You can see 3 different cars in the background the colours of these can be significant for example there is one red car which could suggest this film consists of danger and anger but also you have the blue car which could show how united they all are how they work calmly together as a team. Some characters are almost out of the light, in the shot it looks like the main characters that we will see most often are in the light but some are in the darkness at the back and wouldn't be immediately recognised unless you looked closely. The typeography on this poster is big and bold this may suggest that this is the biggest movie yet and the style of the text is if you look closely in the design of a tyre marks running across the letters which gives you a big clue what the film is about. If you look into the background you can see monuments such as the London Eye this not only gives us a clue about where the film is set but also I think that it shows just how big this film is as you can see from the shot they are very high up.

pictures to capture the supernatural

This picture is meant to be highlighting a supernatural image, the camera is viewed over the top of the shoulder because it gives you a feeling that you are actually with this character almost on their journey. If we did this again the things that I would improve would be that we need too be a bit closer to the camera because you can not see our body movements clearly.
This image is my favourite of the lot because it really has captured the supernatural very clearly, you can see the big foot that is about to crush two people. this was very simple to do but i think the imagination of this is spectacular. It is so simple but yet fits the brief perfectly. In this image I dont think that it needs improving.
This image shows a "super hero" we decided to use props to get the role of the character clearer and it looks funny so it fits the brief for family viewing. It could be improved by my face actually looking at the camera and maybe a more scary face rather than this cheesy grin i am modeling.

Opening scene of James Bond (Skyfall)

This is the opening scene to James Bond Skyfall it is directed by Sam Mendes. James Bond Skyfall opening scene is set in the small back streets of Istanbul where Daniel Craig (James Bond) and his accomplis Naomi Harris (Money Penny)  are chasing a mercenary (Patrice)  through the dusty busy back streets, among lots of civilians, after finding out he has stolen a computer hard drive with information about MI6 agents.
The film is definitely an action film with lots of damage and destruction taking place right from the outset. The scene of Istanbul is perfect for this film as the area is quite small and congested with many people being caught up in the high drama.
The main icons in the scene are the cars used these are significant in the scene as the car chase is key to the story line, the cars act as not only get away vehicles but they also act as great cover in this scene.
Most of the characters in this opening scene are working class civilians who get caught up in the mania of Bond and his villain, they are all mainly men who own stalls in the streets of Istanbul.
The sound is very sharp which is key because this is an action film the sound is what draws the attention of the viewers. There is music played in the background to try and give the viewers a gage of the mood at different times during the clip. The screams of civilians and the noise of the cars really gives you a sense of being there in the action. The camera angles are always changing, nothing too spectacular but it always keeps us watching as you are not looking at the same scene for too long.
