- Our Film is set in 'Galleywood Common' A park woodland type area.
We feel this suited the 'Polish' location very well and had the
most comparible lighting with our polish influences that we have
researched.

This was originally the sound track that we were using for our film but from the feedback that we got we decided to change the music as we were informed that the music did not fit with the video at all and the music was to loud.
Our film is Polish so we were told that we should change the music to a more Polish based track.

A title sequence is the method by which cinematic films or television programs present their title, key production and cast members.
The function of a title sequence is to introduce the film and to give the audience information about the cast members in the film and the people behind it.

Use Of Text (typeography)
The text used is in all different colours and sizes, this may be giving us a clue that the film is something different, nothing is the same. Its bold writing stands out to us and makes us interested in it. The background colour red almost looks like blood and draws and audience to it.
Use of visual imagery/ sounds/elements
There is no real imagery used in this title. There is only pretty standard background colours inputted with no images in the background. From the title you can not really get an idea of sounds because there are no images to get a clue what the film is about.
Mood/Feeling
The mood that I personally get when I look at this title is almost a dull one, there are not really any bright uplifting colours and it makes me feel like this film could be a horror the way the title is displayed.

Positioning of objects within the frame
The positioning was always mainly central for the main actors or names of people we recognise but the lesser names or less important people seem too have there names slightly smaller or not central.
Lighting and colour
The background colour is mainly the same throughout but then suddenly changes to a vibrant orange colour this could maybe suggest that the movie is full of surprises. The lighting always focuses its attention on the name of the person. The images in the background are not focused on as much as what they want you to notice is the people that the film involves.
Camera
The images used are great it is always bringing something new up and keeps you watching it this is very clever as it then make you remember it and the people that starred in its production or the actors that were involved.
Editing
The editing in this is great the names appear and disappear at perfect times and the forever changing moving images in the background are very clever. The moving dragons are my favourite.

The Avengers Assemble
Six gifted protagonists - Iron man (Robert Downey), The hulk/Dr bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Black Widdow (Scarlett Johansson), team up to conquer the supervillain Loki, who stole the Tesseract. The tesseract , an object which thrives off energy which could destroy the Earth.
The genre of The Avengers Assemble is an action movie, allowing for the thrills of chase, the suspense, drama and action within the movie. The settings within the movie vary from being in New York, Germany (Earth being a main setting), to a spacecraft and Asgard, Thors home planet. Despite the sci-fi approach the settings appear realistic and allow the viewer to feel apart of the movie. Loki's Earth-domination plans could make the viewer feel protective as it is their own.
A wide variation of props are used making it more believable and can also make it more entertaining for the viewer. Props such as guns, Thors hammer, tesseract, Captain America's shield, Iron mans suit, all create a more adventurous experience. The throbbing translucent blue tesseract that thrives off power can be viewed in many ways. The throbbing representing the energy within and the fact its being used to destroy Earth, the colour blue, which can be seen as a negative colour can portray the inappropriate consequences involved.
The costumes reflect the look and characteristics of their movie counterparts and portray the 'avengers assemble' new abilities and strengths. For example when Dr Bruce Banner transforms into the hulk, the immense size and the colour green which represents growth, portrays incredible strength. The make up within the movie also has the same effects as the costumes such as portraying information about the characters. Loki being very pale could signify he is weak minded, as he feels the need to destroy a planet in order to gain power.
The different body language used can signify many things such as power, confidence, weakness. When Hawkeye and Black Widdow team up, they walk with a good posture and broad shoulders which implies confidence. Different facial expressions also portray the same things, for example when Thor uses a serious face when it comes to the battle, it shows he is focused and determined to not allow the Earth to be destroyed. In comparison when Loki realises he has no chance of obtaining the Earth he facial expressions change from showing determination to a look of despair and fear, due to the consequences of his actions.
The different positioning in the frame can subtly indicate a character’s isolation or feelings of confinement. For example when it shows Thor coming into action the camera is positioned below Thor making him appear powerful and imposing.

An example of this is when Iron Man is taking the missile into space it becomes dark suggesting it could be the end, creating a tense atmosphere. Loki wears black clothing which can refer to his dark plans in gaining power. In contrast to this Captain America wears colours of his nation, showing loyalty.

This is memorable as it shows many things such as power, team work, dedication and loyalty as they are prepared and ready to fight for the Earth. Another memorable shot is when Loki tries to use the Tesseract on Iron man but it fails to work and the camera rises above him making him look small and useless. Lokis facial expressions also dropped from the look of power to fear and the sound effects also stopped making it appear awkward, creating a humour as Loki failed at his attempt.
Pirates And The Caribbean Dead Mans Chest

Settings and Props:
The setting in this small section of the film is I would say somewhere like a desolate island such as Madagascar where there are still local tribes that hunt and live in their own surroundings with comfort. I think this is somewhere like Madagascar because of the forest like surroundings and the fruit also gives away it is a tropical island.
The props that are used in this scene that our key are the fruit and pole without this obviously the events that follow after would not be as funny and it would be much easier for Jack to escape so it makes it more comical for the audience. The spears give it a sense of danger and make us more intrigued as an audience to see if Jack will make it off the island safely. The ship is a main prop because without that they would all still be stuck on the Island, also the ship is the main part of the film as they are pirates! The glass eye is a key prop as if the monkey had not take in the two characters may have been able to get away with the ship before the others had come back. The dog is the last main prop in the scene because if the dog had not been there the tribe would not have been distracted and so would have carried on chasing Jack.
Costume/ Hair/ Make up
The pirates are wearing dirty white shirts and old waistcoats, this is to show that they are scruffy pirates who have been on a ship, they are not exactly wary of fashion so it does not bother them! They have long hair where they do not cut it on the ships, they also have lots of facial hair this is to show that they are your typical scruffy pirate. The tribe are face painted this shows that they are completely different and that they are living their own way, they also wear face paint to be threatening and show a distinct difference between themselves and the pirates. Jack is wearing his usual bandana to show that he is the main character in the scene.
Facial Expression and Body Language
The facial expressions that are adopted in this scene are relatively ones of shock and surprise as all of the actions that happen are surprising and are also of somewhat a humorous nature. From the way that the characters stand you can see which ones feel more comftable in the current situation and environment and this is the tribe they are standing tall and strong showing their dominance over the pirates who have come onto their island. The tribes woman look very confused by what is happening as they are not used to seeing this. There is a look of fear in Will Turners eyes when he sees all of the tribe running towards them. Jack also at the end as he is getting onto the boat has a smug look on his face as he knows he is safe on the ship.

The main position of characters in the frames are central, for example the main characters such as Captain Jack Sparrow are always central, but then you have the lesser characters such as the tribes woman and these are usually positioned in the side of a frame so you can still see them but they do not hold as much importance/purpose as the character in main focus.

The lighting in this scene is just standard daytime lighting, there has been no special effort to focus the light on a particular area, they have used dark colours in the scene and this is in my opinion to highlight that they are in a tough situation.

There is tense music being played when the tribe are looking down at the pirates in the water this gives us as a viewer the seriousness of the scene, there is a constant changing of the type of music they use though in the space of 2 minutes this is because there are lots of different events that are happening that will eventually lead on to the same part, for example when Captain Jack Sparrow is trying to jump the cliff the music becomes almost comedic because although we know he is in danger he as a character always seems to make something funny out of the situation. The music stops when someone is making an important speech for example William Turner " I'm not leaving without Jack" a long silence is held here until they see Jack but then they see he has the whole tribe chasing after him and then the music starts again, the music used here is the typical Pirates And The Caribbean theme song which most people who have seen the films before would recognise as only being played when there is a fight or a chase going on, so the song holds a purpose.
Memorable Camera Shots
The memorable camera shots that I noticed in the scene were, Jack Sparrow flipping himself over the edge of the cliff, this in my opinion is memorable because of the humour that is involved within it, this reason is also the same in why I chose Jack hanging upside down on the rope because you remember these because of the humour. Jack laying on the forest floor looking at the pole land right next to his head is memorable because of the facial expressions he uses. William Turner and the crew seeing Jack Sparrow being chased by the tribe down the beach is another shot I like because of the facial expressions they use. Jack running away from the tribe down the beach and then Jacks speech at the end on the ship are memorable and this is like most of the other memorable shots is because they are humorous, if something makes you laugh then you usually remember it.
The Woman In Black
Genre: Drama/ Horror/ Thriller
Settings And Props: The setting in this scene is a dark old empty house in rural England. The main props used in the scene are an Axe this would suggest than the character is concerned about their safety, the gravestone has a very important part to tell as this is what the film is based around this grave. Candles are important because they are always used to give somewhere and eerie feeling and usually candles move and flicker when the supernatural are around. The dog is an important prop because it indicates to us that there is something outside that has disturbed it, dogs only usually bark when they feel threatened.
Costume/ Hair/Make Up
The costumes used in this scene are only needed for one character, he is wearing quite a smart uniform which includes a smart shirt and waistcoat, he has white face make up on because it is used to make him look scared and cold. Sideburns would help explain the time this film was set in, his hair is cut neat and tidy and old fashioned.

Body Language is showing that he is threatened you can see this because he is walking extremely slowly and is keeping everything very close to himself. He is also standing side on almost ready to attack something that may jump out on him. He look confused/worried about what is happening.

Prelim Task
This is our groups prelim task our genre is a thriller and it is called Dreamcatcher.

Opening Film Scene Review
UMIA
I really enjoyed this opening scene, it has lots of action involved in the opening scene but it doesnt go over the top and become unrealistic which is good.
The title at the start could be a little bit better shown as it was a bit boring, the title also is quite unique "Umia" doesnt give much away so it doesnt really give you nay ideas on what it will be about.
The logo that they use is very good it is very artistic.
Actors are vert good to stay in role, they have some adults involved in the scene and they have really helped to make the scene more realistic.
Its very clever how they have got hold of the Police uniforms to wear also as it gives it a more realistic feeling. The handheld camera adds pace and adds a sense of more action occuring. The sounds are used cleverley as they are only used when they really need to be, they do not play sound the whole way through in the background which is good in my opinion because it highlights that what the people are saying is equally important. The sound of the sniper rifle is pearcing and shows us that the people are in the middle of know where with no one there to help them because the sniper rifle echoes.
Doesnt end obviosuly so it gives you a sense that you need to carry on watching it.
I cannot find anything to improve on this opening scene it is worth full marks in my opinion.
Mark: 60
Disposistion
This opening scene is very good, it doesnt give much away from the start as it is very slow paced and then suddenly it turns very action packed and it just come from know where. The title would suggest that something is going to go wrong so it gives us a rough idea about what the film will be about. The setting of this film is very interesing it fits the kind of setting that something like this willl happen, it is up in the middle of know where, where no one can see them, the snow gives a kind of eery feeling, this scene would not be as good if it was in the summer.
The characters stay in role extremely well. The music is a little bit confusing as to what is happening they our playing rock music after the deah of someone it doesnt really make sense to me if i am completely honest.
Mark: 40
Juno remake
This is our attempt at the Juno remake, I think we did relatively well overall but there were a few mistakes that we made that we now know and can improve on next time to make our film better. For example during this video you can see that I am not holding the milk carton whilst waking to the tree but suddenly when I have walked past the other side of the tree I happened to have the milk carton in my hands. Also I noticed that when I was crossing the road I am holding our storyboard in my hands. I am pleased that we have made these mistakes in this task because we wll remember now not to do this next time. I think that our editing was very good and think that we got very close to the actual footage from Juno apart from maybe a few minor changes that couldnt really be helped.
We inputted all of the camera shots we needed into the film and also done a very good job at putting in the props to make it as close to the original as possible.
The feedback that we semeed to recieve on a whole on the shots were that they were very steady but when we tried to do a different variety of shots it become a bit unstuck.
The main feedback on transistions were that it fitted with the original and flowed well, but we also had one comment which said they didnt fit in which obviously we will try harder to please everyone.
The lighting feedback was that it was similar and consistant throughout.
The overall score that we seemed to get was 8/10 which I am very pleased about.

Analysis of first 5 minutes only
Settings and Props: This film is set in south-central Los Angeles. In the first five minutes they are out on the streets quite a lot, but they also our in a classroom for an equally large share of the scene. The main props that are used in this first sequence is the stop sign, this is very important it has a hidden meaning to the whole film and this is why it is concentrated on so hardly at the start of the film. Costume/ Hair and Make Up: The costumes worn in this opening passage is just what you would see on an every day situation on your street, they are just wearing normal casual clothes, although I thought it was a bit strange to see on of the boys wearing a golden necklace as he is a bit young for this. Hair doesn't stand out as anything that would give anything away as it is not done deliberately for a purpose. The only character that is really wearing make up is the teacher and this is not significant as it is not unusual for a woman to be wearing make up.

Settings and Props: This film is set in south-central Los Angeles. In the first five minutes they are out on the streets quite a lot, but they also our in a classroom for an equally large share of the scene. The main props that are used in this first sequence is the stop sign, this is very important it has a hidden meaning to the whole film and this is why it is concentrated on so hardly at the start of the film. We were put into pairs and made to pick a genre and a target audience randomly, i happened to have war and teenage girls, when i saw this i knew that this was going to be really hard as there are not many war films that teenage girls would like.
We had to talk about why we chose the title name, the characters that we chose, how we were going to create interest in the film! We talked about storyline, theme and settings, we had to say what makes our film different.
The feedback that we recieved on our film was average, the general consensus was that it was a little bit poor, it lacked some key ideas but the basis was there to make a good film as it was a new idea that other films have not done yet.

The lighting in this film differs throughout the different scenes, for example at the start of the film when they are fighting in the city square you just have the natural daylight which is naturally slightly darker as it is snowing outside this does give a feeling that something dark and evil is about to happen. The lighting gets even darker when the Batman kicks Bane through the double doors and has him no one on one on his own defenceless, it goes darker because you know that the batman is either going to get the information out of him or he is going to kill him.

The costumes used in this scene are different depending on the importance of the characters involved for example the civilians that are fighting the police officers are just in normal every day clothes showing that they are not that important at this point, they do not really stand out from the crowd. The police officers are obviously in uniform this would be trying to show that they are usually powerful but at this point they have no control over what is happening. The Batman and Bane are wearing their distinctive body wear this is obviously used to show that they are the main characters in the scene and that they are wear the most important action will be placed at.
Make up and hairstyles
Make up and hairstyles is not really that effective in this scene as you cannot see the Batman's face but his arch rival Bane has a shaved head this is usually associated with evil enemies they always have shaved heads to make themselves look scarier and more like a thug.

The actors in this scene have played the parts very well the best part is the job the civilians and the police officers do because they create the mood of the scene before the Batman and Bane have even spoken this is good because it shows that they have entertained us well whilst they build up for Bane vs. Batman the fight.

Batman and Bane's voices are very deep and dark suggesting that they are the powerful characters. The music stops when the batman kicks bane through the glass this is because what the Batman has to say is very important and without the music it makes the message clearer and sticks in your mind for longer.

| This is my movie production logo that I have created I have not just made this because it looks interesting there is a key purpose behind it, My films genre for my productions are action films this is why i have decided to go for an image of a tiger's face in the fire, a tiger is associated with danger and a sudden fright this is what action films are designed to do, they are made to scare people and usually involve lots of danger this is what makes them intresting for people to watch. The image of the fire in the background of the tiger is used because fire is associated with danger and this is why i have decided to use it, the red colour is always portrayed as a colour of danger and passion both of which i want my films to be associated with. The white writing on the logo is to show some contrast i wanted to show that my movie production is different and stands out to all the other film productions. |

This maggazine cover of Glamour shows Rihanna as the main attraction on the front this is because she is seen as a big icon for women to maybe model themselves on, also men are always interested into what Rihanna is on as she is a very popular female celebrity. Rihanna is showing of her booty which will attract men to buying this magazine. Rihanna has bright red hair this works well with this poster as red is associated with passion and love. She is wearing a white top this could suggest innocnece because we all know that this image on the front is to attract men. There is very little information even about Rihanna on the front of the magazine it only says "I need to open up" this is all its says about her but yet she is still the main focus of attention on this front cover. |
Fast And Furious 6 Poster
Fast And Furious 6 was set in many different places across the world including the Canary Islands, Glasgow and Los Angeles. The scenes are usually shot in busy down town streets with lots of people coming to inspect. The theme in this film is definitely action, it is very fast paced and full of stunts.
This poster itself to me if you are looking at it would show you that there are some characters more important than others for example you can see Dominic Torretto, Luke Hobbs and Brian O'Connor all standing at the front commanding the audiences attention, they are all standing in pretty strong poses too which would suggest these are the 3 tough men in the film. You can see 3 different cars in the background the colours of these can be significant for example there is one red car which could suggest this film consists of danger and anger but also you have the blue car which could show how united they all are how they work calmly together as a team. Some characters are almost out of the light, in the shot it looks like the main characters that we will see most often are in the light but some are in the darkness at the back and wouldn't be immediately recognised unless you looked closely. The typeography on this poster is big and bold this may suggest that this is the biggest movie yet and the style of the text is if you look closely in the design of a tyre marks running across the letters which gives you a big clue what the film is about. If you look into the background you can see monuments such as the London Eye this not only gives us a clue about where the film is set but also I think that it shows just how big this film is as you can see from the shot they are very high up.
